Role Overview

The Risk Manager will lead risk management efforts within NATO operations, developing and implementing methodologies, conducting assessments, and aligning practices with NATO standards. They will provide guidance to executive boards, oversee risk processes, and support organizational improvement initiatives to enhance resilience and decision-making.


Responsibilities
  • Risk Management Leadership: Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and technical lead for Risk Management within ACT, under the supervision of TSC MPXX 0220.
  • Methodology Development: Develop and implement risk management methodologies and procedures, ensuring alignment with recognized industry standards.
  • Training and Implementation: Deliver risk management processes and associated training across HQ ACT, subordinate commands, and outlying stations.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Liaise with NATO Military Authorities and Agencies to ensure convergence of risk management practices and stay updated on emerging technologies and standards.
  • Executive Support: Provide risk management advice and SME support to ACT Executive Boards.
  • Performance Assessments: Conduct internal risk management health checks, maturity assessments, and organizational improvement initiatives, supporting the Command Auditor.
  • Process Improvement: Enhance the ACT Information Management System, including Risk and Issue Registers, and ensure risk management processes are fully implemented.

Qualifications
  • Essentials
    • Active Secret Clearance
    • Citizenship: Must be a citizen of a NATO member country.
    • Clearance: Active SECRET clearance is mandatory.
    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field from a nationally accredited institution.
  • Experience:
    • At least 5 years of experience in risk management within the past 10 years.
    • Proven experience in developing and implementing risk management methodologies aligned with industry best practices.
    • Work experience as a senior staff member in a complex, dynamic environment within the past 10 years.
    • Familiarity with national or NATO strategic operational commands (4 years preferred).
  • Preferred
    • Advanced, senior, or expert risk management qualifications.
    • Experience in Lean process improvement.
    • Knowledge of operational resilience and business continuity management.
    • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
