Position Overview: We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Head of Engineering to join our team and eventually grow into the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, experience in leading engineering teams, and a passion for blockchain technology. You will work closely with the CEO on idea generation, prototyping, and managing a team of offshore developers. This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the company.
Key Responsibilities:

Work directly with the CEO on idea generation and rapid prototyping to more firmly establish product market fit

Define the technical vision and strategy of the product and company.

Lead and manage the engineering team, including offshore developers, ensuring high-quality code and timely delivery.

Oversee the development and implementation of new features, from ideation to deployment.

Build scalable and secure solutions, ensuring the highest level of quality and performance.

Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve the platform.

Develop and maintain a robust and scalable architecture for the Joba.network platform.

Participate in hiring and mentoring new engineering team members as the company grows.
Qualifications:

Proven experience in full-stack development with a strong focus on the following technologies: Next.js, Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and Solidity.

Solid understanding of blockchain technology and its applications.

Experience with decentralized identity solutions is a plus

Demonstrated experience in leading and managing engineering teams.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, remote team environment.

Comfortable working in a startup environment, ideally with zero-to-one experience.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Fluency in English; Japanese language skills are a plus but not required.

Tokens/ Equity
Screening question:
- Are you based in Tokyo and willing to work in the office at least 2 days a week?
- Do you have prior experience as a tech lead or senior engineer, leading a team of at least 2-3 engineers?
- Do you have hands-on coding experience with TypeScript, Node.js, and Solidity?
- Do you have prior experience in Web3? (Ideally with credentials or identity protocols; please specify if you have experience in this area.)
- Have you worked in an early-stage startup before?
Recruiting Tips
The job title is a bit misleading on this role. Essentially they are looking for someone to come onboard and help organise the current engineering team (2 devs and 1 product design). This person could be a senior engineer, tech lead, or an engineer looking to transition into a role with more responsibility.
They have an office in Tokyo and are expected to work a minimum of 2 days a week alongside the co-founder.
They can sponsor visas and will contribute if someone wants to relocate to Japan, but they don't have a relocation package.
